Svetla Petkova graduated from the Faculty of Pharmacy at the Medical Academy in Sofia in 1977, obtaining a Master’s degree in Pharmacy. From 1977 to 1992, she worked at the Third City Hospital in Sofia, eventually becoming the head of the hospital pharmacy. She completed a specialization in Organization and Management of Pharmacies.

In 1992, she joined Maimeks EAD, where she held the position of “Head of Warehouse Management and Pharmacies.” In 2000, she became the “Manager of the Pharmacy Warehouse” at Maimeks AD. In 1992, she completed a short course on “Good Distribution Practice” at companies Sandoz and Ciba Geigy in Switzerland.
